The work

Watch one come back.

Chalky walls, damp creeping up from the base, cracked frames and a rust streak under the gutter. Washed, repaired, primed, and two full coats later it is a different house. Scroll through it.

Before

An illustration of the work, not a MEKA job. Ten years and fifty-odd houses behind us, and almost no photographs of any of them — so this stands in until our own are shot.

Our own work

Real jobs. Real crew.

Photographs from MEKA sites — not illustrations. They are phone pictures taken on the job, which is the honest version of a portfolio and the one we would rather show you.

The difference

Anyone can roll a wall. The line is the job.

The cut-in — the hand-brushed edge where a wall meets a ceiling, a skirting or a window reveal — is the one thing that separates a professional repaint from a cheap one. You cannot tape your way out of it and you cannot rush it.

It is also the first thing you will notice every morning for the next ten years. So we do it slowly, by hand, and we do not leave until you have walked the house and looked at every one of them.

How a MEKA job works

Five steps, and you always know which one you are on.

Move across the house.

  1. Kobus walks the site with you. He measures, looks at the damp, the cracks and the old coating, and asks what you actually want.
  2. A written quote in two working days. Itemised, so you can see what the preparation costs and what the paint costs.
  3. Preparation, which is most of the work. Wash, scrape, repair, fill, sand and prime every bare patch. This is where cheap jobs fail.
  4. Two full coats, minimum. Cut in by hand, rolled even, with the tins on site so you can see them — and another coat if the wall wants one.
  5. We walk it again, together. You snag it with the foreman. Nothing is finished until you say so.

Before and after

Drag the handle.

This is an illustration of a typical two-coat exterior, not a MEKA job. We will not put someone else's work on our website, and we will not pretend a computer-made picture is a house we painted. Real ones are coming.

What you get, in writing

Four promises. Hold us to them.

01

Two full coats, minimum

Not one coat and a touch-up — and a wall is not finished because the clock says so. It is finished when Kobus is satisfied with it.

02

Kobus is the foreman

Not a name on a letterhead. The owner is on your site, first day to last.

03

A clean site, daily

Drop sheets down, furniture covered, and the site swept before the bakkie leaves.

04

The day we said

If something changes, you hear it from us first, not when the team does not arrive.

Who you are hiring

MEKA is Kobus Smit.

Ten years in Paarl, fifty-odd full house repaints and hundreds of smaller jobs. When you phone the number on this website, Kobus answers it — and he is the foreman on your site, not a name on a letterhead.

There is no call centre, no sales rep and nobody to hand you over to.
